No more playing small

I started off this week with a 2-day seminar out of town with the Entrepreneurship program Filmregion Stockholm Mälardalen runs. It was two intensive and invaluable days with a market strategist who opened my eyes to see my career from a new perspective. I became aware of limiting beliefs and how I, in some ways, have accepted the ”official” view of the film and television industry (how things work), and by that limited myself in what I can or cannot do.

It was both freeing and empowering to realize that I no longer wanted to be that chess piece someone else has control over. That I am in power of my business, even though I rely on so many others. It was energizing to say, I’m gonna do things in another way. There is a lot of power in saying no, and there is a tremendous amount of happiness in creating one’s own path. Even though it’s scary it is exactly what I am going to do. I’m stepping up and becoming the master, not just the master of my own life, but also of my career and my greater mission.

After all, we are not here to play small.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

Love, Johanna.
