It’s that time of the year. The darkness takes over the day, the sun is up from 8.15 am to 3 pm. Some days when it’s grey and gloomy outside it feels like I never really wake up. Every year at this time it’s like we start hibernating. It can’t be a coincidence we light our homes and turn to christmas decorations… Something within tells us we need to create a warm and secure place, more so here in Sweden maybe than in Mhairi’s LA.
I tend to turn inwards, and pay more attention to what I need this time of the year. Neither that can be a coincidence… I sense it has something to do with what winter has meant to generations before us. It’s a time of the year when we have to secure our lives, so everything within us navigate us towards building a defense or becoming clear on what could threaten our survival. It might sound far-fetched, but just like the bear builds it’s pit and makes ready for the season do we. And I think we still need to listen to it, even though we are lucky enough to have homes to live in, we are after all guided to what we need.
So pay attention to what your mind, body and soul tell you. You probably need it. It’s the season of kindness, so start with yourself – give yourself that little extra you deep down know you need.
Happy tea sipping Sunday!
