This past week I had the good fortune to babysit my close friends 12 year old daughter for 24 hours. We ate take out and watched The Karate Kid-survived an earthquake which happened during our dinner-and went on a photograph taking adventure around Beverly Hills.
The experience of seeing the world through a child’s eyes for a day is extremely refreshing and slots in perfectly with this months theme of DO. A child does just do and its simple and beautiful. She just took photos and we just watched ducks for a long time. Taking time to do one activity instead of driving miss daisy crazy with multitasking, was like being on vacation for a day.
The day after my babysitting adventure I walked down a street and noticed the flowers even more than usual. Children, like animals ,can get you out of your own head and I can seriously recommend that you find a child or an animal and spend sometime with them. In effect its a very balanced relationship; as you look after the child or animal they teach you how to just simply be.be, children, do, Mhairi Morrison, The bead movement
